Severe Tornadoes Wreak Havoc in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa
On Sunday April 27th, 2014, multiple tornadoes touched down in Central United States after over a week of warnings from forecasters. These severe tornadoes have left a wake of destruction behind them. Homes were demolished, public property damaged, and unfortunately, lives taken: sixteen dead from Arkansas, one from Oklahoma, and one from Iowa. Even with the advanced notice of the storms, when a tornado is reportedly up to a half-mile wide with winds up to 150 mph, there is only so much a person can do to stay out of harm’s way. Our safe rooms are built to save your life, even in the event of a severe tornado.
More Severe Weather Predicted
Even as the residents of these leveled states begin to clean up and repair their homes, more severe tornadoes are expected today. The Storm Prediction Center says that portions of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana have a moderate risk of severe tornadoes, thunderstorms, and even hail; with Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky having a slight risk of the severe weather. With what is seemingly a constant threat from severe weather to the lives of those living in the United States, investing in a fallback option that could potentially be life saving feels less like an option and more like a necessity.
